The Hitchhikers Guide to Handbags

Today, I thought I would break from tradition and post about some fabulous handbags. What handbags you ask? Why, none other than Louis Vuitton S/S 10 handbags. Now, I would like to preface the rest of my spiel with the following. It has taken me a good long while to start appreciating this collection and even, dare I say, like it (except those shoes, who puts mustaches on footwear? Hate it!). Anytime someone throws around the words "tribal" or "ethnic" I get suspicious as those are two styles you can be sure I don't gravitate towards. I don't want to say I hate them because, something will come along that I'll love and sure enough, it will be "tribal." Secondly, I don't care for all of the bags so you won't get any photos of the sort of ombre dyed LV logo bags with fur tails. While it doesn't thrill me that Louis Vuitton has these large tails of some poor creature attached to a bag, I must say that I'm not anti fur (please don't throw paint on my blog.) I don't care for the bags because the ombre dying feels very 2007 and reminds me of things found in a juniors department of some department store. OK, enough with my criticism and on to the praise! Marc Jacobs described the collection as being about travellers; travelling would be a great use for his pieced leather bags. Bright and colorful, whimsical and fresh in feeling, these bags (somewhat ironically) remind me of Dr. Seuss' Oh, The Places You'll Go, in the best way. Tribal or Ethnic pieces tend to hearken back to one specific culture or place but these bags transcend any specific locale. I think they speak more to the feeling one has when travelling, the sense of excitement you feel when exploring new places and learning new things. These are the bags you bring on a magical adventure with Ms. Frizzle or on an adventure in the Digi-world (Digimon anyone?) No matter where one chooses to rock these bags, they're going to be fabulous.
